Kanz al Sahara will show off their new drum solo routine at the Belly Dance Showcase on Sunday, January 23rd in Fair Oaks. Come out for an amazing belly dance show with local Sacramento student and professional dancers. Tickets are only $7 in advance and $10 at the door. There will also be live music by the fabulous classical Egyptian band, Flowers of the Nile. Nyla Crystal and Kallista will both be performing solos to live music. Kanz al Sahara will also be performing for UC Davis Picnic Day and Whole Earth Festival, Holmes Middle School International Festival, Carnival of Stars, Desert Dance Festival and hosting a dancer’s night at El Morocco! It is only January and we are getting booked! New Teacher for Technique Class In efforts to calm my life down a little bit, I have decided to cut back my teaching to once a week. Fortunately there is an awesome new instructor to take over the belly dance technique class at an earlier time! Please welcome Valeriya to Fiesta DanceN’ Fitness. She is a native of Russia with over 11 years of dance experience in ballroom, Latin and belly dance. She began performing at the age of 13 and has recently moved to Davis to continue her studies in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior. She also teaches a great Latin belly dance fusion class. Belly dance technique will be on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:20pm Latin belly dance fusion will be on Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:20pm Middle Eastern Recipe of the Month – Tabuli A yummy Lebanese Salad! 1/2 c. cracked wheat (ala) 1 cucumber 3 tomatoes 1 green pepper 1 bundle green onion 1 bundle parsley 1 head Romaine lettuce 1 bundle mint Juice of 3 lemons 1/2 c. olive oil Salt and pepper corn Soak wheat 1 hour in 1 cup of boiling water.
