As the holiday season approaches, we become busier and busier in preparation to spend time with our loved ones. Sometimes our loved ones do not live close enough to our favorite belly dance studio and the hard reality of missing belly dance classes must be faced. However, if properly prepared, you will be able to stay ahead of the belly dance game this holiday season and return back to class in January as if you haven’t missed a single lesson!
Fortunately for belly dancers, we don’t need to have a ton of equipment or space to practice when we are away from home. Although fun and flashy, a hip scarf is not required to belly dance. Even if your preferred method of traveling is being packed in a box and shipped home for the holidays, you can still work on things like belly rolls and glute shimmies.
So if you are worrying about how you are going to keep up your hard earned belly dance skills, I have compiled a list of essential skill-keeping drills to fit your traveling needs. This blog post will cover moves you can work on in highly restricted spaces such as when you are seated on a plane, bus, taxi or boat for extended periods of time. These exercises can also be done at the Thanksgiving/Holiday dinner table with discretion.
So get ready to buckle up and belly dance!
